This policy explains which data Edâ Vakti processes, why it is needed, how long it is retained, and the choices available to you.
Summary
- Edâ Vakti does not require an account and does not create a user or device profile.
- We do not serve ads, use an advertising identifier, or sell your data for advertising.
- Location permission is optional. You can select a city or region manually. Background (“Always”) location is requested only for “Update automatically when traveling” and is off by default.
- Notification preferences, dhikr counts, zakat inputs, reading progress, and downloaded content are stored on your device.

Third-party services and transfers
When you use the relevant feature, necessary data may be sent directly or through our hosting infrastructure to:
- OpenStreetMap Overpass and Nominatim: coordinates and network requests for nearby mosques, address resolution, and matching GPS coordinates to a prayer-time region. If the travel feature is on, this request may also run automatically when a significant place change is detected.
- CARTO: approximate map viewport and network request for map tiles.
- Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Yandex Maps: the destination coordinate only when you open your chosen directions app.
- Quran audio/content providers and YouTube: network and content information when you start audio or a live stream.
- Hosting and email providers: technical data necessary to operate the API securely and answer support requests.
These services may act as separate controllers under their own privacy terms. Where personal data must be transferred abroad, the applicable transfer conditions and safeguards are used.
Update automatically when traveling
“Update automatically when traveling” is off by default. Turning it on requires the in-app switch and operating-system “Always” location permission. The feature does not run without that permission.
This feature does not continuously track you and does not build a route or movement profile. It only checks whether the prayer-time city/province has changed. If there is no meaningful change, new coordinates are not sent to the server. If there is a change, coordinates may be sent to the Edâ Vakti server to update the prayer-time region. On Android this uses periodic last-known/location checks while the app is closed; on iOS it uses the operating system’s significant-location-change notifications.
If you enable this feature, location data may be processed even when the app is closed or not in use, solely to update the prayer-time region. Location data is not used for advertising, analytics profiling, or marketing. You can turn the feature off in app settings or withdraw device location permission; if “Always” access is withdrawn, the feature turns itself off.
Your permissions and choices
- Location (while using the app): disable it in device settings and select a region manually. If you previously granted permission, opening the app may use last-known location to ask whether the city has changed.
- Location (always / background): used only while “Update automatically when traveling” is on. Turning the switch off or withdrawing OS permission is enough.
- Notifications: disable them in app or device settings. Prayer notifications are scheduled locally on the device.
- Local data: remove relevant content in app settings or delete the app data through the operating system.
- Server data: contact us to request access, correction, or deletion where data can be associated with you. Anonymous regional counters cannot be separated for an individual user.
Children's privacy
Edâ Vakti is not specifically directed to children. We do not knowingly collect names, contact information, or account data from children. Contact us if you believe a child's data has been processed unlawfully.
Security and changes
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures such as data minimisation, access controls, transfer security, anonymisation, and aggregation. No electronic transmission method is completely secure. We update the effective date when this policy changes and provide appropriate notice of material changes.
