2. Data categories and purposes
- Location data: determining the prayer-time region and providing Qibla and nearby-mosque features; if “Update automatically when traveling” is enabled, detecting a meaningful city/province change and updating the prayer-time region.
- Aggregated approximate-location data: anonymous daily request counts for the selected Diyanet region, used for capacity and cache planning.
- Network and transaction-security data: IP address, request time, and technical error information for security, rate limiting, and continuity.
- User content: real-time processing of semantic-search queries to prepare Quran and hadith results.
- Contact data: answering and recording a support email voluntarily sent by the user.
We do not create profiles from religious-content preferences and do not ask for religion or school-of-thought information. Dhikr counts, zakat inputs, notification preferences, and reading progress are stored on the device by default.
3. Collection methods and legal bases
Data is collected automatically or partly automatically through the mobile app, operating-system permission screens, location services while the app is in use or (if the travel feature is on) in the background or while the app is closed, API requests, and user-sent email. Depending on the activity, processing relies on the legal grounds in Articles 5/2(c), 5/2(ç), and 5/2(f) of Law No. 6698. Where explicit consent is required, it is requested separately and freely; this notice is not used as a consent form. “Update automatically when traveling” and background location processing occur only if you turn on the in-app switch and grant “Always” location permission in the operating system.
4. Transfers and recipient groups
Only as necessary to provide the service, data may be transferred to hosting, security, email, mapping, geocoding, and content/media providers, and to authorised public bodies where legally required. A transfer abroad is made only where an applicable adequacy decision, appropriate safeguard, or incidental-transfer condition under Article 9 is available.
5. Retention and disposal
- No installation or device identifier is created or retained. Regional use is held only as anonymous, aggregated request counts.
- Precise location and semantic-search queries are not retained to create a user/device profile, movement history, or search history. Request-security and provider-operation records may be kept for the period technically necessary. The selected prayer-time region and its coordinates are stored on your device.
- Aggregated counts that cannot be associated with an identifiable person may be retained for capacity and statistics and cannot be separated for an individual user.
- Support correspondence is retained for up to two years after closure, or as required for a dispute or legal obligation.
- When processing grounds cease, data is deleted, destroyed, or anonymised automatically or upon request.
6. Data-subject rights
Under Article 11, you may ask whether your data is processed; request information; learn the purpose and whether use complies with that purpose; learn recipients; request correction, deletion, or destruction where conditions apply; request notification of these operations to recipients; object to an adverse result produced exclusively by automated analysis; and request compensation for unlawful processing.
7. Application
Send your request, with only the information needed to verify your identity and request, to [email protected]. Applications are handled within the statutory period and are generally free of charge. Your right to complain to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority remains available.
